Summer Staff Program

Don’t want to work at the mall this summer? Not looking forward to flipping burgers in 98-degree summer heat? Summer Staff at Hosanna Industries is a great opportunity to make a difference for the summer. You can be a part of this great group of high school and college students who want to pursue a meaningful summer experience.

The 2002 Summer Staff.The Program
Hosanna Industries’ Summer Staff Program was created to provide youth with many enriching ideas about society’s poverty problem and about proactive solutions for the problem by providing housing services to those in need. The main way Hosanna Industries does this is to provide low-income households with decent and habitable housing. Hosanna Industries makes this possible by providing needy families with rehabilitation services for their homes or providing a homeless family with a new home. In addition, Hosanna Industries strives to promote community awareness, participation and improvements to each neighborhood we enter. This is accomplished through volunteerism, employing youth, local purchases for materials and (if possible) improvements to homes throughout the neighborhood during a “Blitz Build.”

It is in the nation’s best interest to educate youth in social problems by providing them with solutions and the hope needed to eradicate the effects of problems such as poverty. Hosanna Industries, while on a small scale, is setting goals and standards to provide our communities with youth who are responsible, aware and full of hope.

As a member of Hosanna Industries’ Summer Staff you will:

  • Have one-on-one leadership training with a mission worker
  • Learn basic general construction skills
  • Learn the value of working together with a team toward a common goal
  • Learn volunteer leadership and management skills
  • Learn a proactive solution to poverty in desolate communities
  • Meet clients and offer hope to needy families
  • Learn and grow as a person who will someday be a leader in your community

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if this is right for me?
The only way to know for sure is to come volunteer for a day or more with us. Contact Hosanna at 724-770-0262 for dates and times available.

What skills do I need to be a member of Summer Staff?
You need only a faith-filled heart, a desire to help others, a good attitude and an openness to learn. No construction skills are necessary. You will be trained for everything you will be doing in a construction field setting.

How old do I have to be?
For summer staff, we ask youth ages 16 to through college age to apply. Any age can volunteer, however.

Is there housing available?
Most definitely! There is a women’s and a men’s residence available for your use while working with Hosanna Industries. Our 8.5 acre campus also has a gymnasium and chapel for your use.

Can I receive credits for my work at Hosanna Industries?
If we match requirements set by your educational institution, you need only bring necessary paperwork for us to file upon your arrival at Hosanna Industries.

If you feel led to participate in this program, please contact the office at 724-770-0262.
